The St. Joseph County Road Commission is currently accepting applications for a full-time Truck Driver. Applicants must have a Chauffer’s License with Class A Commercial Driver’s License, a general familiarity with roadway safety, and successfully pass a Drug and Alcohol test.
The successful candidate will be required to operate a dump truck, blade gravel roads, patch pot holes, haul materials to construction projects, perform snow removal, aerial platform work, and trim/remove trees. In addition, the successful candidate must conduct minor maintenance on their truck including changing blades on the underbody scraper. Occasional general building and yard clean-up or other duties as assigned are also required.
Candidates must be able to sit for extended periods of time in a truck, and lift up to 100 lbs., and be able to operate a chain saw. This position is considered 95% outside work, and therefore must be able to work in all types of weather and withstand both extreme heat and cold. Overtime may be required at any time during the week, depending on the weather and workload demands.
